Find what you need for your wedding day
At a starting point, you must define your needs: how many hours and what is the budget for hiring a wedding photographer?
Some of our clients will request more hours or to separate their wedding day in several days due to their wedding traditions.
For example :
- An Indian wedding could take one week of celebration, so the average cost of your wedding photographer could be calculated per day : coverage of 6 hours per day for $950 for each day
- a Chinese wedding tradition: some of our clients request their tea ceremony prior to their wedding day.
It could be one or two months before their special day as an example.
We totally understand that, bride and groom don’t want to be in rush and again, we always be comprehensible.
The average cost could be calculated per hour for the tea ceremony (coverage of 3 hours for $350) and then, coverage of 8 hours for the wedding day
After defining your needs and your schedule, you can do your research.
To help you, make an Excel with whatever number of columns: photographer name, location of the photographer, average cost, hours coverage, sent a quote Yes or No, travel fees charges etc…
Should I negotiate the pricing with my wedding photographer?
Let’s say you went through so many portfolios, received so many quotes and you had a preference for a photographer.
Problem: the photographer you are targeting is way too expensive.
You are questioning yourself: should I negotiate the pricing with him or her?
Of course, if you like the work of your photographer, and you have THE connection with him or her, pricing won’t be a problem to you. Why?
Because no matter what the pricing is, you trust their vision and their work. So at the end, it is not about money, it is about matching your values and your personalities.
